Essex & Suffolk Water is preparing to start the latest phase of its ongoing investment to improve and protect water supplies in Essex.
Work is nearing completion on the renewal of 2km of pipeline in St Lawrence, between St Lawrence C of E Church and Black House Farm.
This follows the earlier phase in St Lawrence Bay, and together these upgrades represent a £700,000 investment in the enhancement of water resilience and quality for customers in the St Lawrence Bay and Bradwell-on-Sea areas.
Now, the team is preparing to start work on the renewal of 2.8km of mains between Latchingdon and Mayland, along Steeple Road.
This pipeline renewal, part of a further £750,000 investment, will continue to strengthen the water network and improve service reliability for customers in the Mayland, Maylandsea, Steeple, St Lawrence and Bradwell area.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Lowmans.
Daren Still, Essex & Suffolk Water’s Project Manager, said: “This next piece of work will improve the resilience of our water network in this area, and allow us to continue to provide our customers with high quality water.
“The construction will mainly involve digging and laying pipes in the fields, followed by the team working in the road. The construction in the road will last up to six weeks and we are working with Essex County Council to plan this and to ensure we can minimise and mitigate the disruption this will cause.
“While the team are working in the road, a closure will be in place along Steeple Road, between the roundabout connecting The Street, Steeple Road and Burnham Road to just beyond Lawlinge Road. An official, signposted diversion agreed with the highways team will be in place. To minimise disruption to residents during the peak summer months, the road is expected to close in October and warning signs will be posted in advance.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and customers can rest assured our team will work hard to minimise the impact and complete the work as quickly as possible. There will be no interruption to water supplies during this time.”
